This past week I had to whip up one of my favorite drinks to enjoy when it’s warm out. There is something so satisfying about a good sangria.
While I don’t count my calories by any means, I always try and be mindful of my intake. That is especially true when it comes to alcohol. I love food. A lot. And I’d rather not skimp out on a meal so I can have a calorie packed cocktail. I’d rather have a lighter beverage and a good meal. So, meet my go-to sangria style drink I like to make at home:
Skinny White Basil Sangria
yields about 5 glasses
1 bottle of organic pinot grigio (A cheaper one is great -I use Green Fin from Trader Joes)
2 cups sparkling water (lime flavored)
2 tablespoons agave
2 small green apples chopped (skin on)
1 orange chopped (skin on)
2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
optional: diced strawberries or raspberries
Directions:
In a medium size pitcher, add chopped fruit and basil.
Pour in wine and sparkling water.
Add in agave and stir well.
Let it sit in the fridge for at least an hour.
Enjoy!
