I wasn’t going to share this, but my Mom keeps going “Lindsay, this is the best your skin has ever looked!” And honestly, I’ve kind of felt like it feels the best it has ever felt, so I figured I should share. If you’ve been here for a while now, you have probably heard or seen me go through MANY products over the past year. I’ve really grown to love skincare and I sure as heck haven’t given it this type of attention in the past. These days I’ve come to love it. Knowledge and experimenting have been the best way I’ve come to find a routine, but boy it took a while. Then, once I found my routine, I found out I was pregnant and changed it again! Luckily I only had to adjust a few products.
One thing I will say, is that I’ve learned to splurge more (or go more clinical) on products that pack a lot of targeted action (like a vitamin c or fine line serum). Another thing that has stood out throughout this whole process, is how different we all are. I’ve purchased products people RAVED about, only to be disappointed. However, I’ve also purchased some that have been such a hit. Knowing that, I’ll try and really explain my skin and why I love each product below, to help give a bit more context!
Lastly, I just want to add that this routine probably looks a little excessive, but it truly sparks joy and is a little ritual that I look forward to each day. It actually doesn’t take me very long ; )
Morning Skincare Routine:
- Step One: Emma Willis (a makeup artist) got me hooked on only doing a hot washcloth in the morning (let it cover your face, take a few deep breaths with it, and then gently wipe your skin). I do this rather than cleansing in the AM.
- Step Two: A few spritzes of the Epicuren Protein Enzyme mist. THE SMELL IS SO GOOD.
- Step Three: I use the SkinCeuticals Vitamin C and let it dry. I can honestly say that this product has made a serious difference in my sunspots! I totally get the hype and it is well worth the price.
- Step Four: I use the PCA hyaluronic acid. This is another one where I totally get the hype. Since my skin tends to be dry, this has made a huge difference.
- Step Four: I apply the Epicuren Hydroplus moisturizer (or La Mer– I’m still working through that jar)
- Step Five: I am obsessed with using the Tula eye stick under my eyes
Makeup:
I keep this SUPER simple most days (if I even put any makeup on).
- BareMinerals tinted moisturizer
- BareMinerals bronzer
- BareMinderals blush
- Ilia mascara
- Sometimes I add a little powder liner, lightly
- Summer Friday’s lip butter
Nighttime Routine:
- Step One: Wash face with Tatcha rice wash. I am in love with this texture- it’s creamy and lathers so well. I have drier skin and I really think this has been a game-changing cleanser for me. I alternate and use the Acure exfoliating scrub maybe 2-3x per week.
- Step Two: A few sprays of the Epicuren Protein Enzyme mist (I just love it)
- Step Three: I’ll either use the PCA ExLinea or I’ll use the Beautycounter resurfacing peel (I like to alternate). Both pack a punch and you can read all of the rave reviews for them online.
- Step Four: Eye cream. I really like the Epicuren one, but I’m almost out and I’ll probably try something different. The jury is out on whether or not I can speak super highly about it because I haven’t seen much of a difference, but I don’t think I ever have seen a huge difference with eye cream. Anyone else feel like this? I do love the consistency of it though!
- Step Five: Moisturizer. I’ll use the same as in the AM (hydroplus or la mer).
Other things I do throughout the week:
- Dermaflash– I AM OBSESSED and so dang happy I purchased this. Makeup and products just go on so smoothly after you use it. I do this about every two weeks.
- Steam- I use steam about 3 times a week when I’m doing a face mask. I can’t get enough of a steamer! The Vanity Planet one is my favorite (I went through about 3 from Amazon that broke and were just not well made prior to this one).
- Microdermabrasion– I have an at-home one from Vanity Planet and I’m on the fence. I still do it once a week, but I can’t say it is the best. Curious if anyone else loves this or hasn’t seen a difference?
- Face masks- I take a bath about 2-3 times a week and do a face mask at the same time. It’s my favorite self-care and something I look forward to, always : ) It is also fun changing up the face mask each time. I have about 5 I rotate through!
- Gua Sha– this is something else that I try and do as often as I can! It is a little more time-consuming so I don’t always get to it, but when I do, my skin feels SO great. I also love using Fresh’s Seaberry oil when I do it. Heaven!
How’s that for a skincare routine?? WAIT. I cannot forget the latest addition to my routine. These are hilarious and yet I’m also VERY in love with them. I actually do feel like they work well too. I’m on my third box!
Happy skincare lovin’ friends!
