Bend
Bend in the summer is a must! Between golf, hikes and water activities, there is something for everyone down there.
Favorite places to stay in Bend:
- Airbnb a place in NW Crossing area or downtown
- Brasada- a more remote/rustic feel that is great for golf lovers, horse lovers and families
- Pronghorn- perfect for families and golf lovers
*Tip: Don’t forget to see Smith Rock on the way in, grab an Ocean Roll from Sparrow Bakery and hike to Steelhead Falls.
Cannon Beach
Still one of our favorite beaches in Oregon, you just can’t beat it! There are a few places we love to stay when we aren’t just making a day trip out of it:
- Inn at Arch Cape- this is actually on the south end of Cannon Beach (technically Arch Cape), but we absolutely love this spot.
- Stephanie Inn- if you happen to get to head to the beach with your partner (or a friend!) this is the spot to go. It is adult only and worth every single penny!
- Airbnb
*Tip: Make sure to grab an acai bowl and oat milk latte at Sea Level and fill up a growler of the cream ale (beer lovers) at Pelican Brewery.
Camping at Lost Lake
Lost Lake is one of our very favorite camp spots in Oregon if you want to enjoy a lakeside adventure/escape.
The Gorge
We love heading out to the Columbia Gorge area for day trips since it is not too far.
Favorite hikes: Angels Rest
Places to eat: Hood River (we love Full Sail or Solstice) or Sugar Pine
To do: Hike, Bridge of Gods, Eat, Wine taste (we love Marchesi, Domain Pouillon or Cor Cellars
To stay:
Skamania Lodge– if you can snag one of their treehouses, SCORE!
The Society Hotel- a trendy spot with your own cabins
Sisters
Suttle Lodge- I would make this a trip alone OR tag it onto a trip to Bend (it’s about 20 minutes from Bend).
San Juan Islands
Ok ok, I have to sneak this one on here even though I have unfortunately NEVER been. But it is on my list every summer and I somehow keep forgetting to plan far enough in advance to make it happen! I feel like it is one of those places you MUST see in the U.S. Everyone I know that has stayed there has said to rent a house if possible vs. stay at a hotel.
Seabrook, WA
If you haven’t heard of this cute planned town, it is a MUST to plan your next seaside vacation.
Willamette Valley Wine Country
Where do I start? This is another day trip for us since it isn’t too far. We basically go to eat and drink ; ) Just like you should, in wine country.
To eat: Red Hill Market (very kiddo friendly) or the Allison Inn Jory restaurant. We love doing Jory for brunch and then heading to a winery after.
To stay: Allison Inn, Black Walnut Inn, Atticus Hotel, The Vintages
Wineries: Our favorites are Sokol Blosser, Stoller, Hawks View and Soter. Or Hawks View and Stoller if you are going with kiddos : )
*Tip: Don’t forget to bring back some marketplace goodies from Soter and stop by Durant at Red Ridge Farms for some bundles of lavender.
Kirkland, WA
We love staying in Kirkland because it is a super cute waterfront town and we prefer to be outside of downtown. However, it is close enough to go do your downtown things for the day!
Woodmark- This has been a favorite of ours for years. It kind of feels like home. Haha! We love how easy it is to access, it is quieter, great location and right on the water.
*Tip: Order margs and fish tacos at the BeachHouse, rent a boat or kayak, head over to University Village for some shopping.
